Situated in a very long lot, Casa 70 is a renovation project where we restored the original house and added a new back extension and upstairs. The existing front area was repurposed for the public spaces such as the entry room, art gallery, reading room, TV room, lounge, and dining space. The new back area contains the kitchen, dining room, and master bedroom. The upstairs holds two additional bedrooms, a TV room, and a garden. For the facade, we opted for grey cement and built new doors that preserve the original design and reuse the ironwork. In the front areas, we restored the original vigas and viguetillas ceilings, and painted them neutral so that the wall colors stand out. For the floors we chose white pasta tile, then transitioned to glossy white ceramic tile in the kitchen. The kitchen serves as the heart of the home, designed for our client’s love of cooking. We chose easy-to-clean finishes and thoughtfully planned spaces for appliances, ensuring efficient electrical and plumbing installations. All cabinets and closets are crafted from cedar wood. Adjacent to the kitchen, dining area, and master bedroom is a long terrace featuring a lap pool. This area was designed in a way to conceal installations, and has drainage channels to manage rainwater and pool overflow. The house is equipped with solar panels and a heating pump for the pool. The house exterior boasts 3 gardens that most all the rooms overlook. Here there is also the machine room for equipment, fitted with louvered doors for ventilation. The house has unique design elements throughout. Most of the walls have cement finish, allowing them to withstand humidity without needing paint; the natural wear creates a distinctive patina. Also, our client wanted every space to be special, resulting in each bathroom showcasing a different color and style, while each area features a different style of ceiling fans. Casa 70 is a blend of restoration and modern functionality, creating a distinctive living space that caters to both comfort and aesthetics.
